Achieving The Dream

ATD at Harford Community College

In 2018, Harford Community College became part of the Achieving the Dream (ATD) network of 220+ community colleges around the United States striving to improve student outcomes. The College's partnership with ATD will help HCC students more fully realize the benefits of degree completion, successful transfer, workplace skill attainment and other diverse benefits of higher education.

From the HCC press release upon joining ATD:

"Harford Community College's membership in the Achieving the Dream (ATD) network is integral to our future as an institution that can respond to the needs of all our students and support their success as 21st-century learners and leaders. As we look to becoming this 'college of the future,' ATD will allow us to systematically reflect on our current practices by providing a common lens to use across campus no matter the discipline or functional area. Engaging in this self-reflection around the seven Institutional Capacities will provide us guided opportunities to identify, celebrate and scale our successful programming while also uncovering areas where we can optimize the work that we do for the benefit of our students," stated College President Dr. Dianna G. Phillips.

Beginning in 2018-2019, CETL programs and events will often relate to HCC's work with ATD consultants who will work closely with faculty and staff to support and improve student success at HCC. The 2018-2019 PLCs [internal link to that page on the web] are the first of many CETL opportunities for HCC faculty, students, staff and others to begin this empowering initiative at HCC.
